I was able to aquire a MSDN universal license using Microsoft’s Empower program but that has since expired. I hope this promotional offering is just as inexpensive for independent developers. MSDN subscriptions really do pay off if your focus is on windows applications.

I’m also wondering what they are going to do about the Empower program. I bought into the Empower program so that I could get the VS 2005 upgrade when it becomes available. If they keep me from getting it then I’m going to be upset.

I’m sure they will do the right thing and treat Empower members just like normal MSDN Universal customers.
